Creating a story

With a story for a drill you can make sure that participants know what they are going to learn, why they are going to learn something and how the Drillster way of learning works. Think of motivational words from the director or an expert, or showing a recent event in which the subject comes forward, so that the subject becomes more relevant to the target group.

Make sure you put the material you want to teach the participant in the drill, not in the story. The story is meant for context information.

Take a look at the following stories, to get inspiration for creating your own stories.

Introduction story Motivational story Closing story
At the beginning of the course it is good to create awareness: Why is the participant taking this course? This can be done by text, but you can also use a video for this, for example, this introduction to the course about the risks of lithium batteries transported in a passenger jet. It shows a news item that shows the very serious risks of transporting lithium batteries.  cursus_safety_hazard_introductie.jpg

You will then be taken to the editor, where you can create your content. You can use text formatting when creating a story. Follow the advice to give each paragraph its own line. Do this with images, videos and other media/articles as well. You can place images/videos before, between or after the text by clicking on the plus below the text boxes. Look at media settings for the ideal size of the images.

To avoid having too much text on one page, click on 'New page' or click on 'Split pages' icon below the text box:

Changes are automatically saved, but are not immediately visible to users. The changes will become visible to users when 'Release' is clicked at the top of the page.

You can always make changes and / or make changes at any time. This allows you to keep the story up to date and provide users with the latest version.

Before you start using your story, think about adding an icon and a cover. This will give the look and feel that belongs to the subject or theme of the material, it can also give a story the look and feel of your organization.
